Welcome to the Special Olympics Canada Online Volunteer Orientation! Thank you for your interest in Special Olympics and in joining the thousands of volunteers who dedicate their time and efforts to enriching the lives of Special Olympics athletes.
Special Olympics volunteers take pride in knowing they are an important part of a global sport movement that provides athletes with an intellectual disability an opportunity to experience the direct benefits of being involved in sport. Without volunteers, Special Olympics would not exist.
There are four modules to be completed in this online orientation. It is estimated that it will take you about 15-20 minutes to complete each module. The modules include video, interactive activities, and opportunities for you to test your knowledge that will enhance your Special Olympics learning experience.
Once you have completed all four modules you will be asked to complete a quiz. Once you have successfully completed the quiz (achieved a score of at least 70%), a representative from your chapter will contact you regarding volunteer opportunities.
Make sure that you have completed a Special Olympics volunteer application/registration form before you start this orientation. If you have not completed this form, please contact your provincial or territorial chapter to do so before you start this orientation.
